EXACT Release Notes, July 2024

In July, EXACT received a range of developments improving both usability and functionality along with regulatory changes. There were also operational updates in reaction to some unexpected situations. Read on to explore these changes in more detail.

Logging into EXACT

Recent security improvements have been implemented with the addition of password strength and encryption. Following user feedback, two new additions to this process have been added to EXACT.

πŸ”‘ An email verification process has been included to improve the reset process by ensuring users have entered their correct email addresses.
πŸ”‘ New functionality allows passwords to be revealed and hidden when being updated to aid in confirming the correct characters have been entered.

Windows issues

A variety of external factors were introduced throughout July:

πŸ–₯️ A zero-day vulnerability patch implemented by Microsoft to some Windows operating systems on 10th July affected the operation of EXACT for a handful of practices. Improvements to the interaction between core services and Windows operating systems have since resolved this issue.
πŸ–₯️ Although not directly affecting EXACT, the global CrowdStrike issue on 19th July caused problems for some practices and our internal support teams, with reduced access to support systems. A full review is being undertaken to ensure support is always available to dental practices.
πŸ–₯️ Microsoft Azure network connection problems on 30th July affected integrated payments, SMS capabilities and access to EXACT software updates. An investigation into this has been initiated.

NHS in July

With NHS Scotland implementing some changes for 1st August, updates were made ahead of time to ensure smooth operation for dental practices across Scotland. In addition to these regulatory changes, some areas have been improved to aid your experience working in EXACT.

βž• Any deviation from NHS rules when charting fillings, C012 and C013, will display a warning prompt to inform a user before transmitting to help reduce claim rejections.
βž• Only an extensive examination, A001, will update the last examination information as displayed after TC'ing a course of treatment.
βž• The wording for two GP17 warning prompts has been improved to help with the clarity of messaging.
βž• A warning prompt has been added to appear for users (excluding super-users) when attempting to un-tick the VT checkbox for a provider. This will only be displayed when a provider is assigned to an NHS contract and has transmitted one or more claims.
🐜 A resolution has been implemented for practices without a practice ID on their main server database. This was causing some charting issues for NHS practices with scheduled online NHS fee events.
🐜 Preventative measures have been implemented to stop empty NHS claims bundles being created.
βž• Any additional services and rules have been implemented from 1st August 2024.

A few more changes

In addition to everything already mentioned, some of the smaller updates include;

🐜 Remote access functionality in chat support was reinstated after a brief disruption.
🐜 Improved connection stability has been implemented to reduce issues with integrated payments being transmitted to EXACT.
🐜 Duplication of the new user help icon has been resolved.
πŸ”— Standard link tabs are automatically added to the chart tab for all users once a practice is subscribed to a product.
πŸ“ The first address line is now highlighted for practices with address autocomplete enabled when this information is set as mandatory information.
